Today’s Lesson: Protecting Your Laptop.

Read that headline again… 1200 every week! That seems a little ridiculous… but I was able to verify through an inside source that those numbers are pretty accurate… so listen up… especially if you are visiting LAX anytime in the future.

1200 every week equals an amazing 624,000 laptops disappear every year! WOW!

Where do they go? Into someone else’s hands!

Only a third of all laptops left behind in an airport ever make it back to their original owner.

That means the remaining PCs wind up in the hands of a thief or in a pile of unclaimed electronics.

Here’s a few tips to keep your laptop safe at the airport:

1. Write your name and phone number inside the battery compartment. This is the first place TSA Agents will search for any information about the laptop.

2. Make your laptop look unique. Customize the heck out of it, so it looks unattractive to a thief!

3. Consider using tracking software. There are several companies that sell affordable products that can trace an IP address or assist Law Enforcement with finding your computer. A few of the popular companies are Computrace and Lojack.

Use your noggin’ when inside an airport: Keep your laptop next to you at all times and you’ll never lose it!
