Today’s Lesson: The Dangers of On-line Dating!

A registered sex-offender is now in custody…after allegedly raping a female he recently met on-line!

The suspect is in custody because he showed up at a local hospital with a large portion of his tongue missing…(and bleeding!)

Unfortunately for him, the Police had possession of the remainder of his tongue after the victim apparently bit it off during an attempt to defend herself from the attack. (Sorry pal… looks like you had it coming!)

There’s a lot more to this story… but I think the main lesson here is pretty obvious:

Always exercise extreme caution when meeting a new “friend” on-line!

The fact is… you really don’t know who you are dealing with when developing an on-line relationship!

Do Not Provide Any Personal Information to a “Virtual Mate”!

Until you develop a real, face-to-face dialog with someone, your new “friend” could be a bank robber, a con-artist, or even a serial rapist!

Here’s some specific on-line dating tips to keep you out of danger when dealing with a virtual relationship:

1. Use common sense. Never give out personal information like home address and telephone number before meeting the person face to face.

2. Always plan first, second and sometimes even third meetings in public places. Tell someone before going out on the date; be sure that a friend or family member is aware of where you are going, who you are going with and what time you plan to be back.

3. Always take your own transportation to and from the date. Trust your instincts. If a first meeting with a person makes you uncomfortable or uneasy, move on.  It’s better to be safe than to be sorry.

Remember… No Plan Usually Turns Into The Wrong Plan!

Be safe!
